I have a soul sister florist in Houston and her name is Elizabeth. Her business name is The Petaler. While I work with plenty of amazing florists all of the time, I find that the arrangements and creative ideas that Elizabeth cranks out align so well with my brand. On top of that, we work very well together and she is great company.
So when it’s an idea of hers to use dried florals in her work (which she does often), I am all in. We used the dried hydrangeas in 3 ways during this shoot:
In the bouquet, boutonnieres, and centerpieces
The delicate and intricate texture of dried hydrangeas can add a lot to a floral arrangement. The color also goes well with other earthy tones and colors of the season, making it the perfect addition to your wedding day florals.
As an accessory
The dried and almost twig-like texture of the hydrangea petals give it an almost velcro-like characteristic, allowing it to adhere to things without much effort. Here, we put some of the hydrangea in the bride’s hair and it stuck so well. You can throw it in your hair as an alternative to a veil or hair accessory. Another creative way to use dried hydrangeas as an accessory could be to incorporate it into a corsage for the parents and grandparents. Boom. Now they have a sweet, easy way to dress up their wedding day attire a bit and others know the special role they’re playing at your wedding.
To add to your wedding detail photos
If you’ll notice in the photos below with the amazing paper goods from Olive Saint Lily, the flecks of dried hydrangeas really pull everything together. Making sure the wedding detail images from your wedding day go along with all of the other photos from your day!
If you got all the way to the bottom, here’s your gold star! Thank you to all of the wonderful vendors listed below who helped to make this whimsical fall bridal session a reality!
