HOUSTON REHEARSAL DINNER
BACKYARD REHEARSAL DINNER IDEAS
So excited to have these beautiful photos featured in Adorn Magazine's inaugural print issue
A charcuterie table runner, handmade paper invitations, and a beautiful wildflower inspired cake with handcrafted sugar flowers is what made these Houston rehearsal dinner photos some of my favorites. This kinfolk inspired wedding rehearsal dinner session was laid back, filled with good food and great people.
From Sava of Two Be Wed: For any event or table scape there should be clear inspiration. A group of colors you love, an element of nature, or, in this case, figs! Inspiration can be drawn from anywhere and I fell in love with the rich purple and mauve ombre of ripe figs. We also wanted the "feel" of the shoot to be organic and natural- Using this as a starting block I began to weave in elements that tied back to my inspiration. Earthy and brassy tones in the table and chairs. A pop of "fig" in the mauve chargers. Deep purple floral arrangements for each chair. Adorable herb bundles at each place setting. It is much easier to create a cohesive & beautiful look when you have a clear visual to refer to. But, keep in mind, when you are working with a darker palette it is important to tie in some "lighter" elements to elevate the space (vise versa for a lighter palette)- this is where the rose gold table ware, cream linen napkins, and gorgeous stationery came in! Do not be afraid to find inspiration in unusual places, you may be surprised by what works.
Charcuterie is delicious, easy, and can turn anyone into a food stylist. For this shoot, in lieu of table arrangements or table linens we made the food the center of attention. I created this look by making patterns with the food in large groupings- for example, large bunch of grapes, pile of roasted nuts, group of figs, REPEAT. No one wants their charcuterie to look like a big pile so when choosing what to display keep colors and aesthetics in mind! I adored using food as the focal point because it created a sense of community and conversation over the table as we each reached for a piece of cheese or a hand full of strawberries.
