MOODY GARDENS BRIDAL SESSION
Galveston wedding photographer
This girl is AMAZING. She’s so funny, smart, punctual, caring, quick, and invested- every photographer’s dream bride. And I’m lucky enough to say that Carolyn is a part of my family! She is the beautiful bride of my husband’s cousin, and they got married in December at Moody Gardens in Galveston. They were engaged for 3 years before getting married because they wanted to finish school (they met at UT in Austin). So for 3 years now, we’ve been talking about how I’d be photographing their engagement session, Carolyn’s bridal session, and her boudoir session (both of which are going to make an appearance on the blog in the coming months).
Since she doesn’t live in the Houston area, the only time available for her to photograph her bridal session was the day before the wedding. I headed down to Galveston (one of my favorite places to photograph), so excited to shoot in the rainforest pyramid at Moody Gardens. It had been years since I’d been there, so I was very excited to look at everything through the eyes of an adult! When I arrived, Carolyn was finishing up her hair and makeup with Makeup and Hair by Heather. Her look was very classic/ winter bride. Her dress was from LuLu’s Bridal Boutique. I loved the sheer long sleeves so much! Sleeves on gowns are not something I often get to work with in Houston, where our winters are usually pretty warm. Imagine the summers!
When hair and makeup was complete, we headed from Moody Gardens Hotel, where the whole bridal party was staying, over to the rainforest pyramid. I was a tad worried that the humidity inside of the pyramid would cause my camera lenses to fog up, but it wasn’t terrible. We just had to wait a couple of minutes before starting to shoot so the fog could clear up. Then the sky was the limit. We walked around the entire pyramid filled with lush, exotic plants, different (and amazing) lighting situations, sloths, bats, monkeys, fountains and rivers, and everything tropical. It was so cool to shoot a bridal session in a setting like this. Carolyn’s was a prime example of utilizing her bridal session to get some images that would vary from her wedding day images. I always love when brides choose to do this to add some variety in the settings they’re in while wearing their dress.
If you read this whole thing- thank you! You win a high five. Y’all have a wonderful rest of your day :)
